Urban Palimpsests
24TH APRIL > 10 A.M. I ROOM 2.07
Urban Palimpsests is the first international seminar of a four-year program of events developed under the Public Art transversal research line (LTAP) of CIEBA, hosted at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (FBAUL). It is an annual gathering and sharing space between researchers and artists across the globe who are working on themes that match the LTAP.
The purpose of this seminar is to reflect on the contemporary artistic practices and proposals that bring together the public space and the public sphere.
Emphasis will also be given to the notion of periphery based on the confrontation between its territorial meaning and its signification for the world of art, particularly aspects directly concerned with artistic practices and proposals.
This is an initiative of a group of researchers from the research units of CIEBA e VICARTE (FBAUL), IHA (NOVA FCSH), I2ADS (FBAUP), Cic.Digital (NOVA FCSH) and CET (FLUL). The organization of the event is in charge of the CIEBA and has the support of the Lisbon City Council, through its Divisão de Salvaguarda do Património Cultural and FCT.
