entre vagos – exhibition
8 > 27 FEBRUARY | GALLERY FACULDADE DE BELAS-ARTES
The exhibition Entre Vagos, curated by Diana Mordido Aires, opens on 8 February at 5 pm.
“This exhibition traces proximities between a body of artists who, in one way or another, have had a dialogue with the concept of shadow during their residency at Cultivamos Cultura. For this reason, “Entre Vagos” [Spare In-betweens] is an exhibition about shadows: distorted blurs that cling to our extremities, gathering and reminding us of all the surfaces they’ve stretched across to carve out our outlines. Or about the voids between them, always with a certain lack of clarity and precision. Through different perspectives, we are invited to explore our own limitations between reality and illusion; presence and absence; opaque and lucid; sheets and dreams; trails and tracks; borders and decals; sensitising and exposing. This sum of dichotomies becomes relevant when absence asserts itself through a fleeting presence. Or when a gesture is fleetingly delimited. Or in a discussion between shadow and void.” — Diana Mordido Aires
Shadows remember everything we once were, while reducing us to the essential. They constantly surrender themselves to the voids, free to renounce the light and create empty spaces for what matters.
