Opening on October 3 at 17h30
Hours: Monday to Saturday – 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Cuias are indigenous objects made from the fruits of the Crescentia cujete tree. The exhibition draws a parallel between the traditional craftsmanship of Amazonian cuias and Biodesign, an emerging approach in which designers work with living organisms.
In addition to showcasing traditional cuias, the exhibition features pieces created by artisans from the Associação das Artesãs Ribeirinhas de Santarém, which will be available for sale after the event. It also presents experimental Biodesign objects from the Cuia Colab project, which investigates various possibilities of biofabrication with cuias.
The exhibition emphasizes the differences between industrial design and working with living organisms, highlighting a slower process, non-uniform results, and a deeper connection with the territory and the cuieira trees, proposing new perspectives in the design field.
