CONFERÊNCIA THE PLAYER’S ENGAGEMENT AS THE CORE OF VIDEO GAME AESTHETIC
In the first part of this talk, we present a short history of video games and the production of the production process. In the second part we explain how a game is designed and written. We show that the aesthetic of video games is neither its audio visual content, nor its dramaturgy, in the classical meaning, but in the fact that the player develops a new kind of interaction. The core of the game design and, as a consequence, the aesthetic of the game is the way to let the player feel his responsibility in the progress of the game. The presentation is illustrated through several games mainly designed by the students of Cnam-Enjmin.

WORKSHOP COMPLEMENTAR DESIGNING A TABLETOP GAME
The goal of this workshop is to understand the principle of the design of a game mainly based on classical gameplay.
The workshop is organized by teams of three to five students. A theme is assigned randomly to each team and a process to design a tabletop game is presented. The first step is to find the core gameplay mechanism and how it is related to the theme. A first prototype is created and a first version of the rules is written. The game is tested and the rules are modified according to the results of these tests. The team makes a formal presentation of the game and a description of design process.
